
New York’s top high school boys basketball players: Meet the best point guards in Class AAA
From Nate “Tiny” Archibald to Stephon Marbury, New York is known for producing big-time high school point guards. The 2025-26 season is no exception. With the New York high school boys basketball season picking up steam, we’re taking a look at the best players in the state. Our next list focuses on the best point guards in Class AAA.

We contacted boys basketball coaches across New York and asked them to fill out a survey requesting information about their top players. These lists were compiled primarily based on the information provided by the coaches who chose to respond.

## Top Point Guards in AAA New York Boys Basketball
*(Listed in alphabetical order)*
**Brandon Burrell, Mamaroneck, Sr.**
A 6-foot-2 left-handed point guard, Brandon Burrell put up 23.0 points per game as a junior and was selected ninth team Class AAA All-State. Burrell, who recently eclipsed 1,000 career points, will play at Harvard next season.
**Donte Cromwell, Eagle Academy (Brooklyn), Sr.**
An honorable mention All-State selection last season at John Browne, Donte Cromwell (6-foot-6) transferred to Eagle Academy in the offseason. In the first game of his senior season, he turned heads with a ridiculous stat line: 30 points, 7 assists, 7 steals and 5 rebounds.
**Jahsir Davis, Newburgh Free Academy, Sr.**
An 11th team Class AAA All-State selection last season, Jahsir Davis led Newburgh Free Academy to the AAA state semifinals as a junior. He’s one of the top point guards in Section 9 and the state in 2025-26.
**Jonathan Davis Jr., Hempstead, Sr.**
An honorable mention All-State selection as a junior, Jonathan Davis averaged 16.1 points per game last season. Also a standout football player, Davis is one of the rare athletes to make our lists in multiple sports.
**Bless Demand, Shaker, Sr.**
A dynamic point guard, Bless Demand averaged 17 points per game last season while leading the Blue Bison to the Class AAA state championship. A fifth team All-State selection as a junior, Demand is averaging 16 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals per game as a senior.
**Amir Dockery, Eagle Academy (Brooklyn), Jr.**
An eighth team Class AAA All-State selection as a sophomore, Amir Dockery is an elite defender with great speed. He already has an offer from the University of Albany.
**Malik Fields, Cardinal Hayes, Sr.**
A 6-foot-4 point guard, Malik Fields averaged 14.6 points per game as a junior and was named ninth team Class AAA All-State. Fields signed with Quinnipiac in November.
**Dominic Gonzalez, Jamestown, Sr.**
A 6-foot guard, Dominic Gonzalez was an honorable mention Class AAA All-State selection last season. He averaged 16.3 points per game and helped lead Jamestown to 19 wins and the Section VI Class AAA title. Through the first nine games of his senior season, he’s averaging 19.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 steals.
**Jahzar Greene, Bishop Ludden-Grimes, Sr.**
A prolific scorer, Jahzar Greene averaged an impressive 26.7 points per game as a junior, earning third team Class AAA All-State honors. Greene has taken his game to another level in 2025-26: through 11 games he’s averaging 25.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.
**Julian Harris, Thurgood Marshall Academy, Sr.**
A 5-foot-11 point guard, Julian Harris averaged 17.2 points per game as a junior, garnering ninth team All-State honors. He picked up Division I offers from Fairleigh Dickinson University and New Jersey Institute of Technology during the offseason.
**Ryan Hartwig, Lancaster, Jr.**
In his third varsity season, Ryan Hartwig (5-foot-11) has established himself as a complete guard who can impact the game in multiple ways. Hartwig is averaging 15.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.9 steals through the first 12 games of his junior year.
“Ryan can score at all three levels, sees the court very well and can guard his position,” Lancaster coach Craig Krempa said. “He is an outgoing young man with an infectious personality.”
**Dylan Hickman, Uniondale, Jr.**
A true point guard, Dylan Hickman (6-foot-2) averaged 13.5 points, 5 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in his first season as a starter. Hickman has taken his game to another level this season, as evidenced by his 32-point performance in a 55-47 win over Massapequa on Jan. 10.
**Hassan Koureissi, Archbishop Stepinac, Sr.**
A Fordham signee, Hassan Koureissi averaged 10.8 points per game as a junior and was named 13th team All-State. After signing with Fordham, head coach Mike Magpayo praised Koureissi’s ability:
“Hassan is exactly the type of young man we want as a Fordham basketball student-athlete. He is a great kid, comes from a program that has won three straight CHSAA championships, and is a New Yorker who wanted to stay home. He brings great length and skill at the point guard position. Hassan has innate leadership qualities and an unselfish nature his teammates will love.”
**Trevor Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, Sr.**
A 6-foot-1 point guard, Trevor Lewis averaged 12.2 points per game as a junior and earned 10th team All-State honors. Through the first 12 games of the 2025-26 season, Lewis is averaging 16.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.1 steals.
**Christian Marbury, Canarsie, Jr.**
Stephon Marbury’s nephew, Christian Marbury transferred from Abraham Lincoln to Canarsie in the offseason. An honorable mention All-State selection as a sophomore, Marbury has helped lead Canarsie to a 10-6 start to the 2025-26 season.
**Dylan Mingo, Long Island Lutheran, Sr.**
The top-ranked point guard in the country in the class of 2026, Dylan Mingo will decide between North Carolina, Baylor, Washington, and Penn State on Jan. 22. Mingo recently made his 2025-26 season debut at the Hoophall Classic after being sidelined with an ankle sprain.
**Amir Moye, Health Sciences, Sr.**
After missing all of last season with an injury, Amir Moye (6-foot-1 point guard) is having a huge senior season for Health Sciences. A high-level scorer, Moye is averaging 26.6 points and 5.1 assists through his first nine games of the 2025-26 season. Moye, who recently surpassed 1,000 career points, put up one of the most impressive stat lines of the season in a Jan. 6 win over Burgard: 57 points, 6 assists, 6 steals, and 6 rebounds.
**Surafia Norries, Rome Free Academy, Sr.**
A 6-foot point guard, Surafia Norries averaged 15.2 points per game as a junior and was named 11th team All-State. He’s having a huge senior season, averaging 21.3 points through his first 11 games. In a 67-64 win over New Hartford on Jan. 9, Norries scored 31 points and nailed a step-back, game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.
**Aaron Tutt, Forest Hills, So.**
After a breakout freshman year, Aaron Tutt has led Forest Hills to a 12-2 start to the 2025-26 season. A three-level scorer and an elite on-ball defender, Tutt is one of the most promising class of 2028 prospects in the state.
**Nahsaan Young, Health Sciences, Sr.**
A 5-foot-8 point guard, Nahsaan Young gives Health Sciences one of the best guard trios in the state alongside Amir Moye and Zayvion Hawkins. With Moye sidelined last season, Young averaged 12.4 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.1 steals. Through the first nine games of his senior season, he’s averaging 15.8 points and 5.3 assists.
