Funniest/Most Insightful Comments Of The Week At Techdirt
## From the “What’s-the-Word” Dept
This week, MrWilson takes both top spots on the insightful side—and also the top spot on the funny side.
### Insightful Side
**First Place:**
A comment about Elon Musk’s disastrous impact on the government:
> “The worst part about it isn’t just that the Fox News sponges won’t get the full message, they’ll not understand when something that was cut affects them because they never understood any of it to begin with. So when something goes wrong with an agency or service that affects them, they’ve been brainwashed to assume it must be the Democrats or just ‘government bad’ in general, rather than the specific messed-up government they specifically voted for.
>
> Conservatives are inevitably correct: government is bad and inefficient, but specifically because they make it that way.
>
> ‘Marriage is abusive,’ says man who beats his wife.”
**Second Place:**
A comment about Marjorie Taylor Greene’s criticism of Republicans:
> “Greene is a troll who realized she had diminishing returns on attacking Democrats for everything, so she switched to attacking the party in power, even if it’s ‘friendly fire.’ If the Democrats regain power, she’ll resume her previous schtick.
>
> I wouldn’t be surprised if she was delusional enough to think she was setting herself up to become president by pretending she’s an equal opportunity critic. If she was compassionate, she wouldn’t be a Republican, so no points for accidentally saying the right thing once in a while. She’s complicit in the current power structure.”
**Editor’s Choice – Insightful:**
We start with a comment from Thad about Trump as the embodiment of GOP corruption:
> “Trump’s the logical endpoint but he’s not the cause. This is the Party of Nixon, Reagan, and Bush.”
Next, Andrew Raff shares his thoughts on the state of things and the challenge of how we fix them:
> “I continue to believe that the vast majority of the American people are not down with what’s going on, don’t like the constant chaos, and work together to make America a diverse, entrepreneurial place for creativity, inclusion, and community where we can all succeed.
>
> How we do that is a big question, but at least knowing that there are people who recognize that these things are happening.”

### Funny Side
As mentioned, our first-place winner is MrWilson again, this time with a comment about the latest measles outbreak:
> “Hey now, don’t start jumping down Junior’s throat about this! He’s about to discover next week that measles are caused by an imbalance of humors in the body and we just need to start bloodletting treatments for all vulnerable children.
>
> We should also bring them flowers to ward off any foul-smelling miasma that might infect them. Oh, and don’t play rock n roll music around them because that summons demons that might also cause stomach upset!”
**Second Place:**
An anonymous comment about Elon Musk and the failures of DOGE:
> “Hard to believe a program named after a meme and headed up by a guy called Big Balls failed to deliver any positive results.”
**Editor’s Choice – Funny:**
We start with a comment from ThatsWhy about six former Surgeon Generals publicly warning of the danger of RFK Jr:
> “Now I get it: Six out of seven Surgeon Generals recommend toothpaste to help fight cavities. The 7th one recommends pure cane sugar.”
Next, an anonymous comment about Mark Zuckerberg’s “courage” in the face of government censorship:
> “Zuck: Biden asked me gently, I said ‘no.’ Trump threatened me, I said ‘yes.’ I’m that courageous.”
