India has finished as runners-up twice in Women’s ODI World Cups, first in 2005 and then in 2017, losing to Australia and England respectively in the finals. The team reached the semi-finals in 1997 and 2000 but fell short of the final. Notably, India secured third place in the 2009 edition, which uniquely did not feature a semi-final stage.
