Vijay’s party alleges DMK conspiracy in Karur stampede
**Investigation Plea**
TVK lawyer Arivazhagan, who also serves as the state coordinator of TVK’s legal wing, announced that they will approach the Madurai bench of the High Court on Monday. He alleged that “there was a conspiracy, a criminal conspiracy in the incident at Karur,” and called for an independent investigation by the court, rather than one conducted by a state agency.
Arivazhagan emphasized that they have reliable information from locals and CCTV footage indicating the involvement of ruling party functionaries in the Karur district.

**Safety Dispute: TVK Responds**
The DMK government has alleged that the rally violated safety guidelines. However, Arivazhagan refuted these claims, stating, “We did not violate any conditions imposed by the police.”
He further questioned why Karur was treated differently, pointing out that similar events held in other districts such as Madurai, Trichy, Ariyalur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Namakkal over the last two months passed without incident.

**Rally Controversy: Delay Due to Traffic**
The state government claimed that people had gathered at the rally venue since noon, but Vijay reportedly arrived only around 7:00 pm.
Responding to this, the TVK lawyer said, “The delay was not on our part. The delay was caused due to poor traffic. That is the reason we could not reach the destination on time.”
Despite the venue having a capacity of around 10,000, the rally attracted a crowd of approximately 27,000 people.

**Legal Proceedings: Case Filed**
Following the tragedy, the state government has registered a case of culpable homicide against TVK leaders. Additionally, a judicial inquiry headed by a retired High Court judge has been ordered to investigate the incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced compensation of ₹2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund for each deceased’s next of kin and ₹50,000 for the injured.
Chief Minister Stalin also announced compensation of ₹10 lakh for the families of those who died and ₹1 lakh for the injured.

**Reaction: Vijay’s Response to the Stampede Tragedy**
Vijay expressed his grief on social media, stating that his heart and mind were “overwhelmed with profound heaviness.”
He also declared his intention to provide ₹20 lakh to each family who lost a loved one and ₹2 lakh to those injured and receiving treatment.
“I also assure you that our Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will steadfastly provide all necessary support to our loved ones under treatment,” he added.
