Video: 6 houses buried, 7 people missing as cloudburst strikes Uttarakhand’s Chamoli

Six houses were buried and seven people are missing after a cloudburst struck Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Thursday, according to ANI.

The cloudburst caused significant damage in the Nandanagar Ghat area of Chamoli district on Wednesday night, said Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari. Relief and rescue operations are currently underway.

Heavy showers also battered the Himalayan states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. These regions have been severely affected by a series of deadly natural calamities over the past couple of months.

In Uttarakhand, the cloudbursts and heavy rains have resulted in 15 deaths, 16 people missing, and over 900 stranded. Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, rains triggered massive landslides and flash floods, killing three members of a family.
