Grigor Dimitrov’s actress girlfriend Eiza Gonzalez swells with pride as Bulgarian wins his 1st match back at Paris Masters months after horror injury
After 14 weeks following his horror injury at the 2025 Wimbledon Championship, Grigor Dimitrov stepped back onto the court to play in the Round of 64 match against France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard at the Paris Masters. Dimitrov won the match in straight sets, 7-6(5), 6-1, showcasing a strong return to competitive tennis.
Dimitrov’s actress girlfriend, Eiza Gonzalez, watched the game unfold from afar. She reshared the clip of the Bulgarian tennis star’s entry, highlighting the warm applause from the crowd. Echoing the excitement, she added firecracker emojis and also reshared a remarkable point where Dimitrov outwitted his opponent in the second set. On her Instagram stories, she affectionately called him a “Warrior.”

In July, Grigor Dimitrov suffered a pectoral muscle tear during his Round of 16 match against Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon. Interestingly, Dimitrov was up by two sets and tied in the third before the injury forced him to stop playing. Sinner went on to claim the All England Club title by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
Ahead of his Paris Masters return, Dimitrov shared how taking a step back from tennis helped him in unexpected ways. “It was the first time in almost twenty years that I could really be at home for the summer, so I took advantage of these moments. I wasn’t really following what was happening on the tour, I wasn’t trying to stay connected,” he revealed.
Reflecting on his time away from the court due to injury, Dimitrov broke his opponent three times in the second set to demonstrate his prowess. After the match, he shed light on the challenge of missing most of the second half of the season while recovering.
“I’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole time away from the court. I knew that coming to competition was going to be a difficult task. I just wanted to come out and test myself, give myself a chance. It’s a good night. I’m taking it in,” Dimitrov said.
He also praised the crowd’s energy, especially this late in the season. “It’s such an amazing crowd and towards the end of the year, you really feel that energy. I feel very appreciated all around. That gives me great gratitude just to be back,” he added.
Mentally, Dimitrov said he was in a good headspace before the tournament began. Looking ahead, he hopes to perform well in this tournament before fully shifting his focus to a healthy and successful 2026 season.
