EXCLUSIVE: CBFC goes easy on Tere Ishk Mein; only ONE ‘obscene’ word changed; intensely romantic and action scenes UNTOUCHED
This Friday will see the release of Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. The love saga is all set to surprise based on the advance booking trends, with a double-digit opening not being ruled out. And another good news is that the film has been passed with just one cut by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Tere Ishk Mein has a lot of fights and intense romance, as evident from the trailers. The CBFC usually asks for deletions in the action scenes, certain fiery dialogues or intimate moments. But with Tere Ishk Mein, they have not asked for any visual cut at all. Only one dialogue has been modified.”As per the cut list, an ‘obscene’ word was replaced with an appropriate word at around 27 minutes. The two more changes asked were to insert the anti-smoking static message in Hindi and blur the liquor brand label. Once these changes were made, Tere Ishk Mein was passed with a U/A 16+ certificate on November 24. The length of the film, as mentioned, on the censor certificate is 169. 17 minutes. In other words, Tere Ishk Mein is 2 hours, 49 minutes and 17 seconds long. It releases in cinemas on November 28. Fun at the trailer launchThe trailer launch of Tere Ishk Mein was held on November 14 and was attended by Dhanush, Kriti Sanon, director Aanand L Rai, producer Bhushan Kumar, co-producer Shiv Chanana, writer-producer Himanshu Sharma and co-writer Neeraj Yadav. At this event, Dhanush won the hearts of his fans with his replies and also sang, which led to a frenzy. A journalist asked the actor, “What is the one thing about (his Tere Ishk Mein character) Shankar that connected with you?” Dhanush raised laughs as he said, “Nothing. Really. I am nothing like Shankar!”Another highlight was when Dhanush was asked what love meant to him. He stylishly replied, “I think love is just another overrated emotion!”Also Read: Aanand L Rai opens up on Tere Ishk Mein being compared to Animal; says, “There are similarities”.
EXCLUSIVE: CBFC changes Rose-mary Marlow to Rose-mary Carlow in Mastiii 4; asks for THIS modification in the Aftab Shivdasani-old man sex joke
The sex comedy Mastiii 4 hit cinemas today and has already grabbed eyeballs thanks to its popular franchise and naughty trailer. Even before its release, there was apprehension that the Central Board of Film Certification would insist on multiple cuts. Bollywood Hungama had exclusively revealed two days ago that the board had asked for six dialogues to be altered. We can now share the detailed breakdown of some of these changes. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “One of the lines from the trailer that drew both laughs and criticism was the exchange between Aftab Shivdasani and an elderly patient. The old man tells Aftab, ‘Mujhe jawan ladki ke saath sex karna hai’. When a worried Aftab warns, ‘Lekin aisa karne se maut ho jaayegi’, the patient quips, ‘Marti hai toh mar jaaye saali’. In the theatrical version, this entire bit has been toned down. In the film, the patient now says, ‘Mujhe jawan ladki ke saath masti karni hai’. Aftab still cautions, ‘Lekin aisa karne se maut ho jaayegi’, to which the patient replies, ‘Main marne ke liye tayyar hoon’.”The source continued, “That is not all. The three women with whom the trio have an affair in Grand Masti (2013) are named Rose, Mary and Marlow. Read together, their names form a cheeky double meaning in Hindi. In Mastiii 4, a glamorous character is introduced as Rose-mary Marlow. Her name has now been changed to Rose-mary Carlow. It is surprising that the censors had no issue with the gag in the second film, released 12 years ago, but have objected to it this time.”Directed by Milap Zaveri, Mastiii 4 stars Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani, who have always featured in the previous parts of the franchise as well Masti (2004), Grand Masti and Great Grand Masti (2016). This time, they are joined by Ruhii Singh, Shreya Sharma, Elnaaz Norouzi, Natalia Janoszek, Shaad Randhawa and Nishant Singh Malkani, along with Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri. EXCLUSIVE: CBFC censors frontal nudity scene and 2 sexually explicit visuals in Agra
After touring various festivals, Titli (2015) director Kanu Behl’s Agra will finally arrive in cinemas tomorrow, that is, November 14. The film is known not for its realism but also sexually explicit content. Several moviegoers and journalists watched the uncut version of the film at the 21st MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2023 and were wondering if the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) would allow its theatrical release without any cuts. Bollywood Hungama has learned that as expected, the CBFC has asked for some modifications. Agra is a rare Hindi film to have frontal nudity and the Examining Committee of the CBFC asked the makers to replace the scene. Similarly, two sexually explicit visuals in the second half of the film were asked to be deleted. Lastly, the CBFC members asked the makers to replace obscene words. Once these changes were made, Agra was handed over an ‘A’ certificate on May 17, 2024. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 115. 05 minutes. In other words, Agra is 1 hours, 55 minutes and 5 seconds long. Agra marks the debut of Mohit Agarwal and also stars Rahul Roy, Priyanka Bose, Ruhani Sharma, Vibha Chibber, Sonal Jha and Aanchal Goswami in pivotal roles. It is the story of a sexually repressed young boy, who lives in a small house in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, with his mother, father and his father’s mistress. Bollywood Hungama had spoken to Kanu Behl after the MAMI premiere of Agra in November 2023. When asked if he was worried that the explicit sexual scenes might be cut by the CFC, he replied, “We’ll see. Hopefully, the censor board will see the film for what it is, how important the film is and what it’s trying to convey. I am hoping that they’ll be reasonable about the film. The sexuality in the film isn’t titillating. We are not trying to use sexuality for any other purpose. It is there to explore people’s sexual lives. The gaze of the film is correct, and I hope the censor board sees it that way and they assess the film through that lens.”Also Read: EXCLUSIVE: Rahul Roy-Priyanka Bose starrer Agra is a RARE Hindi film to depict frontal nudity; director Kanu Behl says “I am hoping that the Censor Board will be reasonable. Haq under legal scanner: Shah Bano’s daughter moves MP High Court over ‘unauthorized’ portrayal
Siddiqua Begum Khan, daughter and legal heir of Shah Bano Begum, has approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking to restrain the release of the upcoming film Haq. The film, starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam and directed by Suparn S. Verma, is based on the landmark 1985 Supreme Court case Mohd Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum, which was pivotal in securing maintenance rights for divorced Muslim women in India. Scheduled to release on November 7, 2025, Haq has come under judicial scrutiny with Siddiqua claiming that the filmmakers failed to obtain consent from Shah Bano’s legal heirs before depicting her personal life. The petition argues that the film distorts real-life personalities and private events, amounting to unauthorized commercial exploitation of Shah Bano’s legacy. Siddiqua Begum’s plea states that the film causes emotional trauma by publicly showcasing her mother’s personal struggles, potentially damaging the family’s dignity and reputation. She asserts that she inherited her mother’s moral and personality rights and that the unauthorized portrayal infringes upon these rights. During the hearing before Justice Pranay Verma at the Indore Bench, the film’s producers, represented by Junglee Films and other legal counsel, contended that Haq contains a disclaimer declaring it a fictional work and not a biopic. They argued that this disclaimer exempts them from seeking consent from Shah Bano’s heirs. The Court responded by asking the filmmakers to produce the disclaimer on record and clarified its role in protecting privacy. Siddiqua’s lawyer emphasized that the objection lies not with the depiction of the Supreme Court judgment itself, which is public record, but with the fictionalized portrayal of Shah Bano’s personal life and hardships. Further, the petition highlights that the film potentially violates provisions under the Cinematograph Act, 1952, which prohibits certification of films that defame or breach privacy. The petition also calls for the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to revoke the censor certificate granted for the film’s release until proper consent is secured. Siddiqua had earlier issued a legal notice to the producers, who reportedly refused to apologize or take legal responsibility for the lack of consent, prompting this court intervention. The High Court has adjourned the matter for further hearing after reviewing the disclaimer and other pleadings.
