Saints Seemingly Make Final Trade Decision on Chris Olave

The Buffalo Bills have been expected to be one of the more active teams at the NFL trade deadline but have yet to make a significant move.

At 5-2 overall and in second place in the AFC East behind the 6-2 New England Patriots, it seems apparent that Buffalo needs to make a move to complete its roster. On the offensive side of the ball, Josh Allen continues to lack legitimate weapons, so trading for a wide receiver makes the most sense.

According to the latest report from Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Bills have been attempting to make a trade for a wide receiver, reaching out to the New Orleans Saints about Chris Olave. However, the Saints still don’t appear willing to trade him.

Olave has dealt with some injuries throughout his career but would be an ideal candidate for Buffalo if the Saints changed their mind and decided to move on from him. Russini wrote, “The Bills were one of the teams that inquired in recent weeks about Saints WR Chris Olave. New Orleans is still expected to retain its top wideout.”

Despite some below-average quarterback play during much of his time with the Saints, Olave has continued to impress. Even during the 2025 season, he’s posted 503 yards on 52 receptions, including three touchdowns.

In his first and second years in the league, Olave was very impressive, posting more than 1,040 yards in each season. If he had Josh Allen throwing him the football, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him become a 1,300-plus-yard receiver and, more importantly, help Buffalo reach its goal of winning a Super Bowl.

For the Saints, though, keeping Olave makes sense. He’s young, talented, and a key part of their offense moving forward.
