**Russia, Iran Sign Memo on Building Small Nuclear Power Plants in Islamic Republic**
Russia and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the construction of small nuclear power plants in Iran. The agreement was finalized in Moscow during a meeting between Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev and Mohammad Eslami, Iran’s top nuclear official.
Rosatom described the initiative as a “strategic project,” highlighting the significance of this partnership in the field of nuclear energy.
Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), was present at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference held at the agency’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria, on September 15, 2025.
