*New Delhi:* On the eve of Air Force Day, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, hailed Operation Sindoor as a “shining example” of India’s advancing self-reliance and seamless inter-service coordination in a video message released on Tuesday.
The Chief of Air Staff emphasized that the mission embodied “clear higher direction, indigenous capability, and effective jointmanship between all defence forces.” He reaffirmed the Indian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to “defending the nation’s skies by enhancing capabilities, embracing innovation, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.”
**Operation Sindoor: A Strategic Response**
Launched by the Indian military on May 7, Operation Sindoor was a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “We made precise strikes in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor, forcing the enemy to come for negotiations for ceasefire,” Air Chief Marshal Singh added.
Beyond combat roles, he highlighted the Indian Air Force’s consistent position as the “first responder to the nation’s call,” citing its extensive involvement in humanitarian rescues during floods and natural disasters, as well as evacuations from global conflict zones. Notable operations mentioned included Operation Sindhu and Operation Brahma.
**Honouring the Brave**
Air Chief Marshal Singh paid heartfelt tribute to the air personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He reiterated that the IAF’s highest priority remains “the protection of India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
**93rd Air Force Day Celebrations**
Established on October 8, 1932, the Indian Air Force will celebrate its 93rd Air Force Day on Wednesday with grand festivities at the Hindon base in Ghaziabad. The event promises to showcase the IAF’s operational strength and technological advancements.
This year’s Air Force Day parade will feature frontline fighter jets such as the Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30MKI, and MiG-29. Additionally, the indigenous Netra Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) system will be on display, underscoring India’s self-reliance in defense technology.
