Port Jefferson Chamber hosts ribbon cutting for Paddles Up Pickleball & Padel
By Heidi Sutton The Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for their newest member, Paddles Up Pickleball & Padel in East Setauket, on Nov. 15. Located at 5 South Jersey Avenue in the former Made to Move Tennis & Wellness site, the new state-of-the-art facility features 8 indoor and 2 outdoor pickleball courts, 3 indoor padel courts, a full gym, saunas, yoga studio and more. Padel is an up-and-coming court sport that resembles both pickleball and tennis, with elements of squash and racquetball as well. The event was attended by Brookhaven Town Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich, members of the Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, co-owners Frank Glavan and Anthony Lipetri, and staff including Andy Morales (Head Pro and Regional Manager), Mike McCormack (Manager), Eric Onsins (Joola Pickleball Tour Pro), and Eric White (Joola Pickleball Tour Senior Pro). “Looking to level up your game? We offer private lessons and clinics with The HQ powered by Paddles Up, our world-class instructor team. Come see why thousands of players call Paddles Up their home court. Grab your paddle, bring your energy, and join the fastest-growing pickleball and padel community on Long Island!” read a release. “Congratulations to Paddles Up Pickleball & Padel on their grand opening! It’s great to see this space, once home to a tennis school, continue to serve as a place for recreation and connection. We’re excited to watch this new business grow and become a favorite spot for those looking to stay active and connect with others,” said Councilmember Kornreich.
