**Paytm, Google Pay Now Let You Create Custom UPI IDs**

Paytm and Google Pay have introduced a new feature that allows users to personalize their Unified Payments Interface (UPI) IDs. This update is designed to enhance security and protect users from the increasing number of scams targeting UPI transactions.

### Why the Change?

Previously, UPI IDs were often directly linked to users’ mobile numbers, which scammers exploited to trick individuals into revealing sensitive information. With this new feature, users can create customized UPI IDs using a combination of letters and numbers, adding an extra layer of security.

### How to Create a Personalized UPI ID on Paytm

Creating a custom UPI ID on Paytm is simple:

1. Open the Paytm app.
2. Tap on your profile icon located at the top left corner.
3. Scroll down to **‘UPI & Payment Settings’**.
4. Here, you can view all your linked UPI accounts and current UPI IDs.
5. Tap **‘View’** to see your existing UPI ID and the option to create a new one using alphabets and digits.
6. You can also set up backup UPI IDs to prevent transaction failures.

### Enhancing Security with Personalized UPI IDs

The introduction of customizable UPI IDs is a significant step towards increasing user confidence in digital payments. This update aligns with new regulatory requirements aimed at tightening controls on payment requests. Starting October 2, stricter rules will be enforced to safeguard digital transactions further.
