Packers’ Josh Jacobs Makes Shocking Admission on Something He Noticed Against Eagles
The Green Bay Packers struggled to find any offensive momentum on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, raising concerns for a team that had just suffered a loss to the Carolina Panthers.
While the Packers remain in contention for a postseason berth, the outlook isn’t particularly promising. Two teams in the NFC North already have six wins, and with the talent Minnesota Vikings possess on both sides of the ball, it’s only a matter of time before they start to click.
The issues on Monday night stemmed largely from the Packers’ offense. Despite the defense’s strong effort to keep the team in the game, the offense failed to deliver when it mattered most.
Running back Josh Jacobs shed some light on one critical moment late in the game. On a pivotal fourth-and-1 with less than 1:30 remaining, the Eagles’ defense appeared to know exactly what play the Packers were about to run. Jacobs revealed that the defense pointed at him and called out the play, indicating they anticipated his run.
“Fourth-and-1, they called out our play,” Jacobs said, according to Heavy’s Sean Deveney. “We ran it four times, they called it out.”
He continued to describe the play: “We got a good draw, a push, the clock was going down, we kinda snapped it fast, faster than we wanted to and they made a play. I tried to pitch the ball back to Jordan, that’s where the fumble came. At that point, you’re kinda playing backyard football.”
Jacobs’s comments highlight both the Packers’ offensive struggles and the defensive preparedness of the Eagles. Credit goes to Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who evidently put in significant time studying Green Bay’s tendencies. In what was arguably the biggest moment of the game, Fangio’s defense was primed and ready.
Although the Packers lined up in a legal formation during the play, it’s possible they still wouldn’t have gained the crucial yard due to Fangio’s disciplined defensive scheme.
For the Packers, the matchup exposed lingering offensive challenges and the need to adapt quickly if they hope to remain competitive in a tough NFC North division.
