Nick Folk reunion gave new Jets regime a win — and the chance to right a wrong
They never should have let him go in the first place.
For Nick Folk, that mistake applies not only to the Jets, his current employer for the second time in his 18-year NFL career, but also to the Patriots and Titans.
The Jets were the first to make the error by not retaining Folk after he kicked for them from 2010 to 2016 and was not brought back for the 2017 season. During his seven seasons with the Jets, all Folk did was make 192 of 230 field goals, an impressive 83.5 percent success rate.
Next came the Patriots, who signed him in 2019 after he had been out of football for nearly two years. All he did for the Patriots was convert 108 of 121 field goals, an outstanding 89.3 percent accuracy, before being replaced by a rookie draft pick, Chad Ryland, who lasted only one year in New England.
