NFLPA president Jalen Reeves-Maybin gets a tryout with the 49ers
The Detroit Lions cut linebacker and NFLPA president Jalen Reeves-Maybin in March. Since then, he has not landed with another team.
Recently, Reeves-Maybin received an opportunity to work out with the San Francisco 49ers, along with four other linebackers. This move made sense, as the 49ers placed star linebacker Fred Warner on injured reserve on Saturday due to the dislocated and fractured ankle he suffered during last Sunday’s game in Tampa.
The other linebackers who participated in the 49ers’ workouts were Kam Arnold, Stone Blanton, Ben Niemann, and Chandler Wooten. Despite this opportunity, Reeves-Maybin was not signed to the team.
His continued unemployment could present a challenge when it comes time to elect a new NFLPA president in March 2026.
