Mumbai Crime: Bandra Police File Case Against Max Packers Employees For Alleged Theft Of ₹16.15 Lakh
**Mumbai: Four Max Packers and Movers Employees Booked for Alleged Theft of Valuables Worth Rs.16.15 Lakh**
The Bandra police have registered a case against four employees of the moving company ‘Max Packers and Movers’ for allegedly cheating a customer during a household relocation. The incident involves the alleged theft of gold and silver ornaments worth Rs.16.15 lakh while shifting household items from Mumbai to Lonavala.
**About Max Packers and Movers**
Max Packers and Movers, based in Kandivali East, is a company that provides relocation services for household items across locations.
**Details of the Case**
According to the FIR, the complainant, Manasi Kulkarni, 46, a yoga teacher residing in Bandra West, contacted Max Packers and Movers on August 9 to arrange transportation of her household goods from her home to Lonavala, where her father resides.
On the same day, four employees identified as Pappu, Pradeep Kumar, Khan, and Ajay arrived at her Bandra residence to assist with the packing and moving.
While packing, one of the workers requested some old clothes for his father. Kulkarni gave him a bag containing her father’s old clothes.
After loading the belongings into a tempo, Kulkarni traveled along with the movers to Lonavala. The vehicle had seven people on board, including the driver.
Kulkarni had kept her ornaments and important documents inside a travel bag. When she requested to keep the travel bag with her in the cabin, one employee assured her that since it was locked, it would be safe to place it at the back of the vehicle.
She specifically informed them that the bag contained valuables and asked them to take special care before placing it behind, while she remained in the driver’s cabin.
During the journey, at around 5:30 p.m. near Kalanagar, Bandra East, one employee alighted carrying the bag of old clothes. When Kulkarni inquired about this, the others explained that he was in a hurry for some work, and the tempo immediately resumed the journey.
The tempo arrived at her father’s residence in Lonavala around 9 p.m. After unloading the items, Kulkarni returned to Bandra on August 10 without opening the bags immediately.
She returned to Lonavala on September 3. On September 7, upon checking the travel bag containing her documents and ornaments, she discovered that its lock had been broken and the valuables were missing.
Kulkarni alleged that the accused employees had transferred the ornaments and documents into the bag of old clothes taken by the employee at Kalanagar.
**Police Action**
Following the discovery, Kulkarni lodged a complaint with Bandra police against the four employees — Pappu, Pradeep Kumar, Khan, and Ajay.
Based on her complaint, the police registered a case on September 15 under Sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) and 3(5) (act committed by several persons in furtherance of a common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to recover the stolen items and bring the accused to justice.
