MP News: Relative Arrested For Raping 16-Year-Old Girl In Gwalior
**16-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped and Blackmailed by Distant Relative in Gwalior**
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A disturbing case has come to light from the Chinaur area of Bhitarwar, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and blackmailed by a distant relative.
The accused, identified as Pawan Kushwaha, had reportedly been visiting the victim’s house frequently and had confessed his love to the minor, promising to marry her. Taking advantage of the girl’s trust, Kushwaha lured her under the pretext of visiting a temple but instead took her to a nearby forest and sexually exploited her.
According to reports, when the minor was alone at her sister’s house, Kushwaha allegedly sexually exploited her and also recorded obscene videos. He then used these videos as a means to blackmail her. When the girl stopped meeting him, Kushwaha began threatening to circulate the explicit photos and videos.
The crime did not end there. Kushwaha returned on his bike, promising to take her to the Dhumeshwar temple. Instead, he again took her to the forest and raped her. Traumatized and frightened by the assaults and ongoing blackmail, the victim finally confided in her family.
Following the girl’s disclosure, her family promptly filed a formal complaint at the Chinaur police station. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A tip-off from an informer led the police to Kushwaha’s brother-in-law’s residence in Chak Kishanpur village, where the accused was successfully apprehended. Station in-charge Shailendra Gurjar took immediate action and confirmed the arrest.
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Gwalior Robin Jain stated, “The heinous crime was committed by the victim’s distant relative, whom she had known for the last two years. The girl stayed in a hostel and was raped twice.”
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to ensure justice for the victim in this deeply troubling case.
