T-Mobile has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Srini Gopalan as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Gopalan will assume the CEO role effective November 1. He will succeed Mike Sievert, who has been leading T-Mobile since April 2020 and will now transition to the role of vice chairman.
**A Remarkable Career Journey at T-Mobile**
Srini Gopalan joined T-Mobile in March 2023 and quickly became a pivotal figure in driving the company’s strategic direction. Prior to his role as COO, he was a member of T-Mobile’s board of directors. His leadership and expertise have been integral in strengthening the company’s market position.
**Leadership and Achievements at Deutsche Telekom**
Before joining T-Mobile, Gopalan served as the head of Deutsche Telekom’s Germany business. During his tenure, he achieved remarkable growth by doubling the company’s expansion, bringing fiber connectivity to millions of homes, and securing a record mobile market share. His role as a board member overseeing European operations helped transform Deutsche Telekom into one of Europe’s fastest-growing telecom players, renowned for its exceptional customer satisfaction.
**Extensive Experience Across the Telecom and Financial Sectors**
Beyond Deutsche Telekom, Gopalan has held senior leadership positions at major companies including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, and Capital One. At these organizations, he focused on operational excellence, digital transformation, and consumer-centric strategies, consistently driving impactful change.
**Strong Academic Foundations**
Born in India, Srini Gopalan completed his undergraduate studies in business administration at St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. He then earned his MBA from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. Known widely for his operational expertise and visionary leadership, Gopalan is set to lead T-Mobile into its next phase of growth and innovation.
