Renowned costume designer Deepa Mehta, the first wife of actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar, has passed away. The sad news was shared by their son, Satya Manjrekar, through a heartfelt social media post. Accompanying a smiling picture of his mother, Satya wrote, “I miss you mumma.”
The cause of Deepa Mehta’s death has not yet been disclosed. May she rest in peace.
### Career and Family
Deepa Mehta was not only a talented costume designer but also an entrepreneur, running a popular saree brand called Queen of Hearts. She married Mahesh Manjrekar in 1987 after the two had known each other since their college days.
The couple had two children together: a daughter, Ashwami Manjrekar, and a son, Satya. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce in 1995. Following the separation, the children reportedly chose to live with their father.
### Mahesh Manjrekar’s Second Marriage
After his divorce from Deepa Mehta, Mahesh Manjrekar married actress Medha Manjrekar. The couple has a daughter, Saiee Manjrekar, who made her Bollywood debut alongside her father in *Dabangg 3*. Saiee has also appeared in films like *Major* and *Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay*.
Mahesh Manjrekar’s stepdaughter, Gauri Ingawale, is an actor as well, known for her roles in movies such as *Panghrun*, *Hi Anokhi Gath*, and *De Dhakka 2*.
