Macy’s Parade to have Mario balloon in celebration of 40th anniversary
As we approach the close of 2025, Nintendo’s iconic Mario franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary in grand style. Fans have already enjoyed a variety of special events and releases, including Mario Kart World, remastered versions of the Super Mario Galaxy games, and the exciting announcement of the new Super Mario Bros. Galaxy movie.
Adding to the festivities, Mario will soon be making his debut at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in the United States. This year, Nintendo will feature a brand-new Mario balloon in the parade to honor four decades of the beloved franchise.
Nintendo recently announced the Mario balloon on its social media channels, revealing that this will be the first time the character has appeared as a balloon in the Macy’s Parade. The official render of the planned balloon shows a clean, vibrant, and fun design that perfectly captures Mario’s enduring charm.
While Mario’s appearance marks a first, other video game characters have previously been part of the event. Notably, Sonic the Hedgehog has flown in past parades. Additionally, Nintendo is no stranger to Macy’s with Pikachu from the Pokémon series having appeared as one of the parade floats before.
This exciting new addition is sure to delight fans and parade watchers alike, celebrating Mario’s milestone anniversary in a truly memorable way.
