Jensen Huang says that ‘without TSMC, there is no NVIDIA’
It’s safe to say that much of the world’s semiconductors run on designs built by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). At last estimate, the company accounted for about 64 percent of the world’s contract chip manufacturing. These designs are also powering many of the AI technology breakthroughs that NVIDIA is spearheading.
Given this strong partnership, it comes as little surprise that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang had nothing but praise for TSMC during its recent company Sports Day. In fact, Huang went so far as to say that NVIDIA wouldn’t exist without TSMC.
Huang made these remarks during the recent TSMC Sports Day event, as reported by Focus Taiwan. Over the weekend, he attended the event at a stadium in Taiwan and shared his thoughts on TSMC’s significance to both NVIDIA and the broader technology sector. “Without TSMC, there is no Nvidia today. You are really the pride of Taiwan, you are also the pride of the world. Thank you for helping me build Nvidia,” Huang stated.
NVIDIA and TSMC have enjoyed a collaborative relationship for nearly 30 years, with NVIDIA utilizing TSMC’s technological breakthroughs in its own products, including the latest cutting-edge Blackwell AI chips. This longstanding partnership has helped both companies innovate and succeed in the highly competitive tech industry.
With so much history and mutual achievement, Huang certainly has more than a vested interest in keeping relations with TSMC strong—especially as TSMC and Taiwan navigate intricate trade relationships and export discussions with the United States government.
The ongoing collaboration between NVIDIA and TSMC continues to shape the future of AI and semiconductor technology worldwide.
