The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has significantly transformed the nation’s space sector by actively integrating start-ups and private players into the national ecosystem. Currently, there are over 300 start-ups engaged in satellite manufacturing, launch services, and space-based data analytics. These collaborative efforts are vital to meeting India’s growing demand for satellite-based applications across a variety of sectors.
India’s achievements in space exploration have elevated its global standing. As the world’s fourth-largest economy, India boasts a thriving space sector that frequently matches and even surpasses international standards.
Notable milestones include the discovery of water on the Moon through the Chandrayaan-1 mission and the successful soft landing near the lunar south pole by Chandrayaan-3. Additionally, India accomplished a significant feat with the SPADEX mission, achieving successful docking and undocking in space. This milestone made India only the fourth country in the world to perform such a complex operation.
Looking forward, ISRO has set an ambitious goal to land Indian astronauts on the Moon by 2040, marking yet another landmark achievement in the nation’s space exploration journey.
