**Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Woman and Paramour Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Murder**
In a significant verdict delivered by Special Judge DP Mishra of the SC/ST Court, Sangeeta Kumawat (45) and her accomplice Lakkir alias Pradeep (31) were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Sangeeta’s husband, Premchand Kumawat, in 2017.
The case, argued by special public prosecutor Aarti Bhadoriya, revealed chilling details. On October 11, 2017, Premchand’s body was discovered in a drain at Yadavnand Nagar, bearing strangulation marks. The investigation established that Sangeeta, along with Lakkir and another accused, Vikki (currently absconding), strangled Premchand before disposing of the body.
Witnesses testified seeing all three assault the victim and later transporting him on a motorcycle. During interrogation, Sangeeta confessed to conspiring with her lover to commit the murder. Key pieces of evidence, including the rope used and call records between the accused, were seized by the police.
After examining testimony from 15 witnesses, the court convicted Sangeeta and Lakkir, awarding them life imprisonment for their crime.

**Indore Court Sentences Man to 20 Years’ Rigorous Imprisonment for Raping Minor**
In another case, the 21st Additional Sessions Judge (Special Court for POCSO Act) sentenced Madhavrao (52), a resident of Indore, to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment for raping a 7-year-old girl. This case was prosecuted by special public prosecutor Sushila Rathore.
According to the prosecution, on November 17, 2023, Madhavrao lured the child to his home under the pretense of showing her the television. Shortly after, the girl’s parents heard her cries and found her in distress. The locals apprehended Madhavrao red-handed, and a case was promptly registered at the Tejaji Nagar police station.
Medical examinations and witness statements confirmed the crime. The court found Madhavrao guilty and imposed a strict sentence, emphasizing that such heinous crimes against minors deserve no leniency.
Additionally, the court recommended compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
