The LSU Tigers fired Brian Kelly from his coaching position on Oct. 26, but controversy still surrounds his reported $54 million buyout. On Saturday, Kelly’s son and LSU linebacker, Kenzel, sparked an intense debate when he donned a white T-shirt with the letters “BK” in black ink before the Tigers’ matchup against Western Kentucky. Kenzel also shouted “Go Tigers!” to the camera before saying, “Long live, BK, free my boy, BK.” When fans caught wind of Kenzel’s apparent message of support for his dad, they shared a range of reactions. Leave him be,” another added. “Probably shouldn’t let your son be on the team if he looks like that. There is no way he is good at football,” a user tweeted. LSU is claiming it has grounds to terminate Kelly “for cause” to avoid paying his full amount. Kelly has already rejected lump-sum offers of $25 million and $30 million from the Tigers. A look at Brian Kelly’s coaching record at LSU LSU hired Kelly in November 2021, and he compiled a 34-14 record in just under four seasons at Baton Rouge. He won the SEC West division title with the Tigers in 2022. While announcing Kelly’s firing earlier this season, LSU confirmed Frank Wilson, the team’s associate head coach and running backs coach, as its new interim head coach. On Friday, it was reported that the LSU board of supervisors authorized new university president Wade Rousse to send Kelly a formal notice of termination.
