**GST 2.0: Maruti Cars Become Cheaper by Up to ₹1.3 Lakh**
*By Mudit Dube | Sep 18, 2025, 05:18 PM*
Maruti Suzuki India has announced a price reduction across its entire range of cars, effective from September 22, 2025. This decision follows the recent slash in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on automobiles. The company aims to pass on the full benefit of the GST rate cut directly to its customers, making several models more affordable by up to ₹1.3 lakh.
**Price Reductions Across the Board**
The most significant price cuts are seen in Maruti’s entry-level cars. The S-Presso will now be cheaper by as much as ₹1.3 lakh, while the Alto K10 enjoys discounts up to ₹1.07 lakh. Popular models like the Celerio, Wagon-R, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Tour S, and Dzire also receive notable price reductions under this scheme.
**SUVs and Premium Models Also Get Cheaper**
The price cuts are not limited to entry-level vehicles. Maruti’s SUVs, including the Fronx and Brezza, will become more affordable with discounts up to ₹1.13 lakh. Premium models are also part of this move, with the following reductions:
– Grand Vitara: Up to ₹1.07 lakh
– Jimny: Up to ₹51,900
– Ertiga: Up to ₹46,400
– XL6: Up to ₹52,000
– Invicto: Up to ₹61,700
These adjustments make the premium lineup more accessible to buyers.
**Boosting the Auto Industry**
Maruti Suzuki’s price cut comes at a crucial time as the Indian automobile industry has seen four consecutive months of declining passenger vehicle sales. By transferring the GST benefits fully to customers, Maruti is effectively lowering the entry price for new buyers.
This strategy is expected to encourage first-time car purchases and increase fleet sales, helping to improve dealership inventory turnover. Overall, it aims to uplift the morale of the Indian auto market and stimulate growth after a slump.
Stay tuned for more updates on how these price changes impact the market and consumer choices.
