Giants Announce Assistant Coach Will Miss Broncos Game
The New York Giants announced that several players have been downgraded due to injury and did not travel with the team to Denver. Additionally, offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo will also miss the trip for personal reasons. According to The Athletic’s Charlotte Carroll, Bricillo didn’t make the trip because his family is expecting their third child. Assistant offensive line coach James Ferentz will replace Bricillo on the sidelines for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos at Mile High.
### Giants Announce Several Players Didn’t Make the Trip
The Giants will again be without wide receiver Darius Slayton on Sunday, marking his second consecutive missed game. He will be joined by four other players who also did not travel. These include linebackers Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) and Swayze Bozeman (ankle), defensive lineman Chauncey Golston (neck), and center John Michael Schmitz (concussion).
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported that wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey is expected to be elevated from the practice squad. Humphrey caught four passes for 55 yards during Big Blue’s Week 6 upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Raanan added that recently signed wide receiver Juice Wells, who played college football alongside quarterback Jaxson Dart at Ole Miss, is unlikely to be elevated from the practice squad at this time.
With Slayton and fellow receiver Malik Nabers sidelined by injuries, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and the Giants will continue to lean on Wan’Dale Robinson. Robinson leads the team with 29 receptions for 351 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie running back Cam Skattebo will also be a key contributor out of the backfield.
Tight end Theo Johnson has emerged as one of Dart’s go-to targets, recording three touchdown catches in the quarterback’s first three starts.
### Trash Talk Heats Up Ahead of the Broncos Game
Trash talk ahead of this matchup has escalated after two Broncos linebackers made comments in recent days. Earlier this week, Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper took a jab at Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart’s celebrations and the “chain” he wears, suggesting that the rookie is getting under his opponents’ skin.
The jabs continued Thursday when fellow Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto seemingly took a shot at Giants fans in a now-deleted post on X. “I’ve never seen such a delusional fan base,” he wrote.
Bonitto’s remarks quickly spread across social media and eventually caught the attention of Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. “Hold on,” Thibodeaux posted, “what I miss?”
Giants fans were quick to fill him in, and Thibodeaux responded by posting a GIF of Denzel Washington as detective Alonzo Harris during the climactic scene of the iconic film *Training Day*, signaling that he had taken note of Bonitto’s confidence.
### Giants Fans Energized After Big Win
Giants fans may be especially fired up going into this game, coming off a surprising victory over the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on “Thursday Night Football” last week.
Sunday’s matchup at Mile High promises to be an intense battle, both on and off the field, as the Giants look to build on their momentum despite the ongoing injury challenges.
