‘Film Club’, Aimee Lou Wood’s BBC Comedy-Drama Featuring Owen Cooper, Gets Trailer & More First-Look Images
**EXCLUSIVE: First Look at BBC’s Romantic Comedy-Drama *Film Club* – Trailer and Images Released**
The BBC has unveiled a brand-new trailer along with several first-look images for *Film Club*, a romantic comedy-drama co-created by and starring *The White Lotus*’ Aimee Lou Wood. The series also features an impressive cast including Suranne Jones, Nabhaan Rizwan, Liv Hill, and, in one of his first roles since his record-setting Emmy win, *Adolescence* star Owen Cooper.
Ahead of its UK debut on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three on Tuesday, October 7, the trailer offers a sneak peek at Evie (Wood) and her weekly film club—a special escape where she creates a world of wonder by transforming her mum’s garage into whatever setting the movie calls for. It’s also a precious opportunity for Evie to spend uninterrupted time with her best friend, Noa (Rizwan).
As the trailer opens, we learn that Evie hasn’t left her house in six months. However, this latest film club meeting brings unexpected news: Noa reveals he’s landed a dream job that will take him to the other side of the country. Faced with the threat of distance, the two must confront the possibility that they might be more than just friends.
The trailer also introduces Evie’s eccentric family, including her fiercely loving single mum Suz (Jones), sister Izzie (Hill), handsome boyfriend and man of the house Josh (Adam Long), and their frustrating neighbour Callum (Cooper).
In addition, the series stars Arian Nik, Fola Evans-Akingbola, and Ralph Davis—Wood’s co-creator—as a trio of fellow film club members. Lisa McGrillis appears as another neighbour.
*Film Club* is brought to life by the UK arm of Lupin and Obsession producer Gaumont, with support from Germany’s ZDFneo. Producers Stella Merz (*Gentleman Jack*) and Hannah Pescod (*The Lovers*) helm the project, while Catherine Morshead (*Daddy Issues*, *The Full Monty*) directs the series. Executive producers include Alison Jackson, Jamie Jackson, and Aimee Lou Wood for Gaumont, alongside Nawfal Faizullah for the BBC. Fremantle will handle international sales.
Notably, *Film Club* marks the screenwriting debut of both Aimee Lou Wood and Ralph Davis, who previously appeared in *House of the Dragon* and *Big Boys*. Anna Jordan (*One Day*) joined the writing team for episode four of this six-part series. Filming wrapped earlier this year.
All six episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer starting October 7. On the same day, BBC Three will air the first two episodes, which will then repeat on BBC One the following night, October 8.
Following an initial first look back in February, these new images and the trailer give fans an exciting preview as the show’s UK premiere approaches. Stay tuned for this heartfelt and charming story when *Film Club* hits screens next month.
