Damon Hill reacts to Oscar Piastri talking about ever increasing pressure from Max Verstappen and Lando Norris in F1 championship
Damon Hill Reacts to Oscar Piastri’s Thoughts on F1 Championship Pressure
Oscar Piastri recently opened up about the mounting pressure in the Formula 1 World Championship during a candid interview. Currently locked in a fierce battle for the title alongside Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, Piastri shared his mindset amid the intense competition.
As the 2025 F1 season progresses, Piastri leads the drivers’ standings with 346 points after 19 races and four sprint events. His teammate, Norris, is close behind in second place with 332 points, while reigning champion Verstappen holds third with 306 points.
Over the last few races, Piastri has dropped some valuable points, with Verstappen capitalizing by winning three out of four recent races. Meanwhile, Norris has steadily closed the gap to Piastri, narrowing the difference to just 14 points.
Speaking after the United States Grand Prix about the shrinking points gap and rising pressure, Piastri told F1:
“Max is closing in, and so is Lando, you know. The gap’s not been comfortable at any points this year really. Yeah, it’s obviously been a bit bigger at certain points but at no point has it felt like I could relax or sit back. So my mentality hasn’t changed and it certainly won’t now. I’m just trying to do the best job I can every weekend, and naturally, results will take care of themselves.”
Damon Hill shared his reaction to Piastri’s remarks on his official Instagram story, quoting the famous line:
*“If you can keep your head when all around are losing theirs.”*
Recent Race Performances
In recent races, Verstappen secured victories in Italy, Azerbaijan, and the United States Grand Prix. Norris managed two second-place finishes, a third, and a seventh, showing consistent form. Piastri, despite facing a DNF in Azerbaijan, came back strong with podium and points finishes — P3 in Italy, P4 in Singapore, and P5 in the United States.
Oscar Piastri Confident in Championship Hopes
The Australian driver remains confident about winning the 2025 championship, drawing on his previous experience in tight title battles. Reflecting on his mindset, Piastri told the media:
“The only thing to do is analyse and see what we can do. I’ve been in [title] fights that were as close, or even closer at this point than what they are now, so I’ve got the evidence for myself that things can still turn out well, and I still fully believe that I can win the championship.”
He added that in past seasons, the championship fight went down to the final race — and he believes history can repeat itself, with the title still very much within reach.
Stay tuned as the championship battle intensifies with every race, and watch how Piastri, Norris, and Verstappen push each other to the limit in pursuit of the 2025 F1 World Championship.
