Cowboys’ Jerry Jones gets 100% real about Trevon Diggs incident
It has been a tough week for Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, to say the least. He reportedly suffered an accident at home on Thursday, which led to a concussion. As a result, Diggs was ruled out for the Cowboys’ game against the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.
Diggs has been an integral part of the Cowboys’ defense, so his absence against the Commanders came as a surprise to many. Dallas coach Brian Schottenheimer has largely remained tight-lipped about the situation, which has only fueled speculation among fans and media alike.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Diggs’ health, the Cowboys secured a convincing 44-22 victory over the Commanders, improving their record to 3-3-1. After the game, team owner Jerry Jones was in a talkative mood but remained guarded when discussing Diggs’ concussion.
Jones acknowledged that he had spoken with Diggs about what happened but admitted that players are not always the best reporters of their own injuries. “He said what happened. But again, and I’m not saying that didn’t happen, a lot of times you’re not the best viewer of what happened to you,” Jones said.
The 83-year-old owner, who has decades of NFL experience, suggested that Diggs might only miss one week and expressed confidence in his eventual return. “I don’t go looking it up at all. I really don’t. I see what he’s given me, and I’m satisfied with that. Frankly, I’m satisfied with what any player tells me, until we get to the point where I’m not satisfied,” Jones added in a video posted by 105.3 The FAN on X.
Jones emphasized that this is “not a smoking gun deal at all,” describing the situation simply as an accident. “He had an accident, and I’m good with that. He’ll be back out there playing. We need him. We’ll be a lot better team with Diggs.”
Prior to the incident, the 27-year-old Diggs was coming off a solid performance in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers, where he recorded two solo tackles. The Cowboys are set to return to action this Sunday against the Denver Broncos, hoping to have Diggs back on the field soon.
