Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident unfolded on Monday night in Bhitarwar, Gwalior, where an elderly man was mercilessly run over by a speeding bike. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, sparking a confrontation between the victim’s relatives and the police.
The victim, identified as Nandkishore Rawat, was crossing in front of Mandi Gate when a bike carrying three youths struck him from behind. The trio rushed the injured man to Bhitarwar Community Health Center, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The youths fled from the hospital soon after.
CCTV footage of the accident surfaced on social media, clearly showing the three men riding the speeding bike before hitting the elderly man.
The situation escalated further during the postmortem process. According to police, the dispute arose due to a delay in bringing the keys for the postmortem room. Frustrated, the victim’s family confronted Station House Officer (SHO) Hitendra Rathore. When some police personnel began recording the incident, the protesters allegedly hurled abuses and assaulted Head Constable Asaram Patel and Constable Anup Mishra.

In protest, the victim’s family placed the body outside the Bhitarwar police station, blocking the road and demanding strict action against those responsible for the accident. The standoff continues as the relatives seek justice.
This tragic event highlights the need for stricter road safety measures and timely police response to prevent similar incidents in the future. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the matter.
