Tokyo Rail Derailment Causes Commuter Chaos
Train services on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line remained suspended throughout the day on October 6th following a derailment the previous night, leaving commuters and students stranded and forcing many to queue for hours for replacement buses. In areas along the line, long lines formed at bus stops, and rental electric kick scooters quickly ran out as residents searched for alternative transport options.

Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation (MMMOCL) posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Due to a technical glitch, services on Line 2A and 7 are running slightly delayed. We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers. Our teams are working to get the services back on schedule as quickly as possible.”

Mumbai: Central Railway Sidelines Blueprint To Triple Suburban Train Services, Despite Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Praising Sector-Based Plan
The plan, presented to Vaishnaw last year and praised for its scope, has not been taken forward by the Central Railway (CR). It was absent from the set of solutions CR submitted to the Bombay High Court earlier this year during hearings on crowding and accidents on suburban trains, an omission that has raised eyebrows, especially after the Mumbra tragedy.
