Punjab and Haryana HC declines PIL seeking name change for 120 Bahadur
The upcoming war epic 120 Bahadur, starring Farhan Akhtar as Param Vir Chakra awardee Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, has landed in a legal debate just days before its scheduled release. The Punjab and Haryana High Court recently heard a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking the film’s name be changed to ‘120 Vir Ahir’ to better honor the Ahir soldiers who fought in the historic Battle of Rezang La. Court Questions Sensitivity Over Movie TitleDuring the hearing, Chief Justice Sheel Nagu addressed petitioners from Sanyukt Ahir Regiment Morcha and families of those who died in action, expressing surprise at the insistence on a name change. “Why are you so sensitive about what name should carry, whether a film should be named so and so? Bravery of soldiers will be seen in that 3 hour or 2-and-a-half hour movie,” the Chief Justice remarked, emphasizing that cinematic portrayal honors all 120 men. Petitioners Argue for Collective RecognitionPetitioners alleged the film singularly glorifies Major Singh, eclipsing the regimental identity and collective sacrifice of 117 Ahir soldiers who fought alongside him, citing constitutional concerns over equality and accurate remembrance. The plea argued, “No single name or face may justly monopolize the laurels that rightfully belong to the entire brotherhood of the fallen.”Producers and Defence Argue Film’s IntegrityAdvocate Abhinav Sood, representing producers Excel Entertainment, countered that both the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) and the Defence Ministry cleared the film. Sood stressed the PIL was premature, based solely on a three-minute trailer, and assured the court of comprehensive acknowledgment within the movie’s credits and narrative. The Union government assured the court that representations against the release are under consideration and will be decided within two days. In response, the High Court disposed of the petition, granting liberty to revisit the matter if further grievances arise after the release. 120 Bahadur dramatizes the infamous 1962 Indo-China battle at Rezang La, fought by Charlie Company-a unit comprised predominantly of Ahir soldiers under Major Singh’s command. The film’s release is set for November 21 and promises to showcase acts of heroism, endurance, and camaraderie at altitudes of 18, 000 feet and subzero temperatures. Bollywood Hungama has been at the forefront in giving news about one of the most awaited films of 2025, Dhurandhar. After informing viewers that 2000 fans of lead actor Ranveer Singh will assemble at the grand trailer launch, we reported earlier today that it is expected to be the actor’s lengthiest film. Now, we bring to you another news of the film, which has created a lot of chatter in the industry. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “There have been reports that Dhurandhar is a two-part saga. Hence, the film, which will be released on December 5, will be the first installment. It’ll end at a decisive point and the story will then continue in the second part.”The source continued, “It is said that director Aditya Dhar has shot extensively and the film has shaped up really well. But since it’s very lengthy, they have toyed with the idea of breaking it into 2 parts. If this is the plan, then Dhurandhar’s part 2 will arrive next year, preferably in the first half.”It now remains to be seen whether the makers, Jio Studios and B62 Studios, will announce the two-part aspect of Dhurandhar before release or if viewers will get to know about it only towards the end of the first part when they see the film in cinemas. We reached out to Jio Studios to find out if Dhurandhar is a two-part saga, but they chose not to comment. Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead and also features Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sara Arjun. It is Aditya Dhar’s next directorial after the blockbuster and much-loved Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019). The teaser was unveiled on July 6, on Ranveer Singh’s birthday, and got a smashing response. It immediately increased the excitement for the action entertainer. As a result, the trailer, which will be released tomorrow, is keenly anticipated. Pankaj Tripathi and wife Mridula enter theatre production with Lailaaj; daughter Aashi makes stage debut
Celebrated actor Pankaj Tripathi and his business manager wife, Mridula Tripathi, are all set to take a heartfelt leap into theatre production with their newly formed banner Roopkatha Rangmanch. Their first production, a musical comedy titled Lailaaj, will also mark the stage debut of their daughter Aashi Tripathi. Written, directed, composed, and lyrically driven by Faiz Mohammed Khan, Lailaaj promises a refreshing blend of humour, music, and heartwarming storytelling. The musical will be staged on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of this month at Rangshila Theatre in Mumbai, giving audiences an exciting new theatrical experience. For Pankaj Tripathi, whose journey began on the stage long before cinema embraced him, this maiden production holds a deeply personal significance. SCOOP: Dhurandhar makers eye May 29, 2026 for the release of the second part
On Monday, November 17, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to break the viral news that Dhurandhar is a two-part saga. As expected, the news travelled far and wide. 2 days later and a day after the grand trailer launch, Bollywood Hungama brings to you one more update about this film. A source told us, “Dhurandhar’s first part will arrive in cinemas on December 5, as is common knowledge. The makers want to release the second part in the first half of 2026, particularly in the summers. Accordingly, they have set their eyes on the May 29 slot. It is empty and hasn’t been grabbed yet. This will give them an advantage of a solo release, just like the first part, which is arriving sans any competition.”The source continued, “However, the makers have not yet locked the May 29 date. They are looking at other vacant dates as well in May and also are considering if Dhurandhar Part 2 can arrive in cinemas in June. They plan to take a call on it soon.”Meanwhile, there was no mention of Dhurandhar being a two-part saga at the grand trailer launch, held yesterday, on November 18, at Mumbai’s iconic Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. An industry insider commented, “The makers probably plan to lock the date before the release of the first part.
