BSP delivers surprise 0.25 ppt rate cut
MANILA, Philippines – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has once again reduced its key policy rate by 0.25 percentage point, bringing it down to 4.75 percent. This move comes amid growing concerns over infrastructure-related corruption, which have impacted the country’s economic growth.
“The outlook for growth has softened in the near term,” BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. said during a press briefing.
