Trent Grisham’s 2 homers power Yankees to 10-5 win over Twins
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Trent Grisham homered twice and Cody Bellinger also went deep as the New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins 10-5 on Wednesday night.
Aaron Judge went 3-for-4, raising his major league-leading batting average to .329. The Yankees moved within four games of first-place Toronto in the AL East with the win.
Luis Gil started for New York, pitching 4 2/3 innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits. Four relievers combined to shut down the Twins the rest of the way, with Fernando Cruz (3-4) recording four outs to close the game.
Grisham tied the game at 2-all with a solo homer in the third inning off Twins pitcher Taj Bradley (6-8). In the fourth, he blasted another solo shot — his 33rd of the season — onto the plaza in right field, giving the Yankees a 6-2 lead.
The Twins fought back in the fifth inning, plating three runs keyed by Brooks Lee’s two-out, two-run single. Lee finished the game with three hits, while Austin Martin and Royce Lewis each had two hits for Minnesota.
Bellinger added a two-run homer in the ninth inning to seal the victory for New York.

The Twins had already scored three times in the fifth and had runners on first and second with two outs when Yankees manager Aaron Boone called on Fernando Cruz. Royce Lee hit a line drive toward the right-center gap, but Bellinger made a running catch to preserve New York’s 7-5 lead.
