Hegseth Responds to Ambush-Style Shooting of Two West Virginia National Guard Members (VIDEO)
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth responded to the ambush-style shooting of the two West Virginia National Guard Members in DC. Two West Virginia National Guard Members were shot by an unidentified assailant at 17th and I Street, NW, near the White House on Wednesday afternoon. The suspect was transferred to a hospital after he was shot. The two guardsmen are in critical condition, according to FBI Director Kash Patel. Patel also said during a press briefing that the attack against the National Guard members was “targeted.” According to CNN, the suspect is not cooperating and did not have any form of identification on him at the time of his arrest. Hegseth told reporters that President Trump ordered 500 additional troops to DC after the shooting. “President Trump has asked me to add 500 additional troops to DC. We will not back down. Pray for our National Guardsmen,” Hegseth said in remarks to reporters. “Someone decided to target National Guardsmen. That will only stiffen our resolve,” Hegseth said. WATCH: President Trump responded to Wednesday’s targeted attack against the National Guard members. “The animal that shot the two National Guardsmen, with both being critically wounded, and now in two separate hospitals, is also severely wounded, but regardless, will pay a very steep price. God bless our Great National Guard, and all of our Military and Law Enforcement,” Trump said. “These are truly Great People. I, as President of the United States, and everyone associated with the Office of the Presidency, am with you!” Trump said on Truth Social.
