Former Macomb County superintendent pleads guilty to having weapon in school zone
WARREN, MI A former superintendent in Macomb County has pleaded guilty to possessing a weapon in a school zone. Hollie Stange, of Redford, pleaded guilty to possessing a weapon in a school zone during a hearing on Nov. 20 before 37th District Court Judge John Chmura. The misdemeanor charge is punishable by up to 93 days in jail. Stange, 39, will have her case dismissed after an 11-month advisement period, per a plea agreement, according to release from Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido. She will be required to forfeit her firearm. The former superintendent of Fitzgerald Public Schools in Warren was charged in December 2024 with possession of marijuana on school grounds, possession of a weapon in a weapon-free zone, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. She and Amanda Carroll, the district’s food service director, had been spotted smoking marijuana within 1, 000 feet of school grounds. Carroll’s case was dismissed earlier this year. “In this community, we are all working tirelessly to prevent violence and ensure our schools remain secure,” Lucido said in a statement. “Her actions fell short of the example every educator and leader should uphold.” The pair had been arrested after they were seen at a plaza near the corner of 9 Mile Road and Ryan Road smoking marijuana in Carroll’s vehicle, according to previous reporting. The two left the area in separate cars. Police who stopped them said they were under the influence. They were placed on leave at the time.
