More cheese recalled by Oregon coast creamery due to listeria concerns
Oregon Live ^ | November 19, 2025 | Veronica Nocera Posted on by Red Badger An Oregon coast creamery has recalled another batch of cheese products that may be contaminated with listeria. Face Rock Creamery which is headquartered in Bandon, Oregon, and operates a second cafe in Coos Bay previously pulled two lots of garlic cheddar cheese curds in June. Now, the southwest Oregon creamery has issued a second recall for 16 units of its Vampire Slayer Cheddar Block, according to a notice posted by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration. The 6-ounce block was sold exclusively at Face Rock Creamery’s Oregon flagship, located at 680 Second St. S. E. in Bandon. Affected units were sold between 3: 30 p. m. Nov. 10 and 3: 30 p. m. Nov. 13. They include a use-by date of Nov. 4, 2026, and the universal product code “8 512222 00547 8.” As in June, Face Rock Creamery voluntarily recalled the product last week due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can lead to listeriosis. Listeriosis, or listeria infection, can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, as well as diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms. It can cause miscarriages or premature delivery during pregnancy and can be fatal for people with weakened immune systems. It is treated with antibiotics. Consumers should destroy the product or return it to its place of purchase for a full refund, per the recall. Those with questions can contact Face Rock Creamery at 541-347-3223 or by email at info@facerockcreamery. com. Face Rock Creamery, which opened its Bandon flagship in 2013, has won several national awards over the past decade for its cheddar cheese products, including a first-place win at the American Cheese Society’s 2024 cheese competition.
