Child Seriously Injured After Being Impaled On Fence In Annapolis’ Bywater Community

Annapolis firefighters rescued a 9-year-old child who was impaled on a fence in the Bywater community Friday morning, prompting a medical helicopter response due to the severity of the injuries.

Shortly before 8 a.m., Annapolis Fire Department crews were called to the neighborhood after receiving a report of a child impaled on a fence. Firefighters and paramedics worked quickly to stabilize the child and used cutting tools to remove a section of the fence, allowing them to safely free the patient.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, a helicopter was requested for rapid transport to a trauma center.

Details on the child’s condition and on the circumstances leading up to the incident were not immediately available. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and updates will be provided as more information is released.
