XPL Rallies After Plasma Reveals Collaboration with Daylight Energy
Plasma’s native token XPL surged following the announcement of a strategic partnership with Daylight Energy to launch two new tokens: GRID, a stablecoin, and sGRID, a yield-bearing token.
XPL rose 10%, trading at $0.325 with a market capitalization of $607 million. According to Plasma, which currently has a total value locked (TVL) of $2.7 billion, GRID will be issued by M0, fully backed, and instantly redeemable. Meanwhile, sGRID will enable holders to earn yield based on Daylight Energy’s electricity revenues.
This collaboration marks the first time investors can gain on-chain exposure to electricity yields through a single token. The companies emphasized that this partnership highlights the growing integration between blockchain technology and real-world infrastructure, creating innovative opportunities for investors to earn yield.
“Our power grids are straining from an explosion in electricity demand, with rates outpacing inflation and blackouts surging,” Plasma stated. With GRID and sGRID, Plasma is expanding its ecosystem of yield-earning tokens.
Launched on September 25, 2025, Plasma’s Layer 1 blockchain has focused heavily on stablecoins and other yield-bearing assets. This move comes as the stablecoin sector’s total market capitalization surpasses $304 billion, up considerably from $206 billion at the beginning of the year, according to DeFiLlama data.
In addition to the GRID and sGRID launch, Plasma has recently announced several strategic partnerships. These include collaborations with Chainlink, an oracle provider, and Aave, a decentralized finance (DeFi) lending protocol, aimed at expanding its ecosystem.
Prior to these developments, Swarm, a regulated DeFi platform with a TVL of around $7 million, revealed plans to launch nine tokenized equities on the Plasma blockchain ahead of its mainnet launch.
Together, these initiatives reinforce Plasma’s commitment to building a robust blockchain ecosystem centered around stablecoins and yield-generating digital assets.
