T-Mobile has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Srini Gopalan, the company’s current Chief Operating Officer (COO), as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The transition will take effect from November 1, 2025. Gopalan will succeed Mike Sievert, who has been leading T-Mobile since April 2020 and will now shift to the role of vice chairman.
### A Remarkable Career Journey at T-Mobile
Srini Gopalan joined T-Mobile in March 2023 and quickly became a key figure in driving the company’s strategic growth. Prior to his role as COO, he served on T-Mobile’s board of directors. Gopalan’s leadership experience is extensive, having previously led Deutsche Telekom’s Germany operations where he achieved impressive results—doubling growth, expanding fiber connectivity to millions of homes, and securing a record mobile market share.
### Transformative Impact at Deutsche Telekom
Before joining T-Mobile, Gopalan was a board member at Deutsche Telekom, overseeing its European operations. Under his leadership, the business became one of Europe’s fastest-growing telecom companies, distinguished by industry-leading customer satisfaction scores.
Beyond Deutsche Telekom, his career includes influential senior roles at Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, and Capital One. Across these positions, Gopalan drove operational excellence, spearheaded digital transformation initiatives, and implemented consumer-focused strategies that delivered tangible business results.
### Academic Excellence and Early Career
Born in India, Srini Gopalan pursued business administration at St. Stephen’s College in New Delhi. He further honed his expertise by earning an MBA from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad.
Gopalan is widely recognized for his deep operational expertise and visionary approach to transforming businesses, qualities that are expected to be pivotal as he leads T-Mobile into the future.
