Miami’s 335-pound OT Francis Mauigoa catches lateral, runs in from 13 yards for TD vs. Syracuse

The Miami Hurricanes appeared to have an easy matchup lined up in Week 11, hosting Syracuse. However, the game started slower than expected. After the first quarter, the score remained tied at 0-0, and by halftime, Miami held only a modest 14-0 lead. Once the Hurricanes settled in, they pulled away to secure a convincing 38-10 victory.

Late in the fourth quarter, with the Hurricanes comfortably ahead, Miami’s offense decided to have a little fun. Positioned near the end zone, quarterback Carson Beck rolled out to his left but then quickly retreated and launched a backward pass to the right side of the field. On the receiving end was offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa. Not only did Mauigoa catch the ball, but he also rumbled into the end zone for a touchdown, extending Miami’s lead by 35 points.

The quarterback, wisely choosing not to full-on chest bump a 335-pound lineman, shared the celebratory moment with his teammate. This touchdown marked the first of Mauigoa’s collegiate career.
