With next win, Sean McDemott will be sixth coach with 100 in first nine seasons
On Sunday at Miami, Bills coach Sean McDermott will attempt to win his 100th career game, including playoffs. Remarkably, this milestone comes in only his ninth season as a head coach.
To put this achievement in perspective, only a handful of coaches have reached 100 wins in fewer seasons: George Seifert (116 wins), Paul Brown (104), John Madden (103), Joe Gibbs (102), and Mike McCarthy (101). It’s worth noting that McDermott has benefited from the addition of a 17th regular season game, which started in 2021. Regardless, accumulating 99 wins in nine seasons is an impressive feat.
Overall, McDermott’s coaching record stands at 92-47 in the regular season and 7-7 in the playoffs. While regular season success is important, the playoffs are ultimately what matter most for McDermott and the Bills.
Looking ahead, Buffalo is poised to make another playoff run in 2025. The biggest challenge remains getting past the talented Kansas City Chiefs and advancing to the Super Bowl. In what is currently a wide-open conference, the Bills have as good a chance as any team to claim the championship.
