FromSoftware’s parent company let it slip that we’ll get Elden Ring Nightreign DLC by March at the latest
As reported by GamesRadar, FromSoftware’s parent company Kadokawa recently celebrated the continued sales success of *Elden Ring*, *Shadow of the Erdtree*, and the multiplayer spinoff *Nightreign* in their second quarter earnings report released on November 6.
Buried within the report’s slides lies some exciting news for *Elden Ring* fans: an indication of when we can expect the release of *Nightreign*’s promised DLC. On page 16 of the report, it states:
> “We have multiple game titles in the development pipeline. FromSoftware is currently developing Elden Ring Nightreign DLC (planned for release in FY2025), Elden Ring Tarnished Edition (planned for release in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2), and The Duskbloods (planned for release in 2026).”
To clarify the fiscal year timeline, Kadokawa’s 2024 fiscal year ended on March 31, 2025, meaning the current 2025 fiscal year will end on March 31, 2026. Barring any delays, this sets the latest expected release window for the *Nightreign* DLC sometime before March 31, 2026.
### What to Expect from the Nightreign DLC
Though specific content details remain under wraps, *Nightreign*’s Steam page previously hinted at “additional playable characters and bosses.” Considering the relatively quick turnaround—especially compared to the 2+ years it took for *Shadow of the Erdtree*—and *Nightreign*’s already mod-like, kitbashed nature, it’s likely FromSoftware will draw heavily from its archives.
Fans can reasonably anticipate more skins and bosses inspired by the *Dark Souls* series. Additionally, weapons, enemies, and bosses from the *Shadow of the Erdtree* expansion to *Elden Ring*, which are currently underrepresented in *Nightreign*, feel like an obvious fit. New weapon types such as light greatswords, backhand blades, or great katanas would add fresh combat styles, while a Dryleaf martial artist could make an exciting new player class.
Personally, I’m hoping for more map variety in any form—new camps, new seeds for map generation, shifting earth mechanics, or even an entirely new base map patterned after the Land of Shadow. And as a fan of the lore, I have to throw in a request: please include an Executor skin of Sir Alonne from *Dark Souls 2*. That would be incredible.
### What About FromSoftware’s Next Big Project?
Notably, the report does not mention any major new single-player projects from FromSoftware. *Duskbloods* is listed, but it’s primarily a multiplayer title and, at least initially, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
It feels like we’re overdue for a first look at the next big mainline project from the studio—whether that’s an *Armored Core 6* expansion or sequel in the vein of *Silent Line*, *For Answer*, or *Verdict Day*, or a pre-rendered teaser for the next Soulsborne title, whether *Elden Ring 2* or something new entirely. Both would be fantastic—after all, a fan can dream, right?
Stay tuned for more updates as they come!
