Mamdani Deserves A Long Rope
**No-No #2: The Misassociation of Mamdani with Stalinist Socialism and National Socialism**
We should avoid associating Mamdani with Stalin’s modest take on socialism as compared to Trotsky’s grandiose vision, summarized by the formula “socialism in one country.” Why is that important?
If Mamdani were associated with Stalinist socialism, it would imply that he is a communist—which he is. More importantly, it would suggest that he favors “socialism in one country,” a stance he shares with figures like Sanders and AOC.
So, what’s wrong with that?
Labeling Mamdani this way could lead to him being characterized as a national socialist—a Nazi. Yikes! Yes, folks, that is what Hitler was. The term “Nazi” is short for *Nationalsozialismus*, or national socialism.
The term does indeed resonate with the ambitions of Mamdani, Sanders, AOC, and their followers, but it is strongly verboten to mention or imply this.
Why the hesitation?
For one thing, Mamdani doesn’t sport that infamous mustache and doesn’t come across as a fire-breathing lunatic. Unlike some, no “God damn America” rhetoric has come from his mouth.
His advisers don’t resemble or act like Goering, Himmler, or Goebbels. And unlike the Nuremberg-style rallies of the past, we haven’t seen similar spectacles on TV—even during events like Obama’s first inauguration.

*This clarifies why equating Mamdani with Stalinist or national socialism is both inaccurate and misleading.*
