How to Get Rusted Gears in ARC Raiders
Upgrading the Workshop should be one of your first goals in ARC Raiders, and you’ll need rare items like Rusted Gears to do it. Finding these items can be a frustrating and laborious process given their scarcity, but we’ve got a line on your best chances of getting them in this guide.
Where to Find Rusted Gears
Rusted Gears are classified as an Industrial item. As such, you can find them in Industrial loot zones scattered across the game world. However, simply knowing their locations doesn’t guarantee you’ll acquire them easily. For example, I fully cleared two massive loot runs and opened dozens of containers, only to come away with one Rusted Gear.
Here’s a list of the Industrial areas where you might find Rusted Gears:
- Spaceport
- Rocket Assembly
- Container Storage
- Vehicle Maintenance
- The Blue Gate Traffic Tunnel and its surroundings underneath the massive structure northeast of Checkpoint
- Adorned Wreckage
- Warehouse Complex
- Dam Battlegrounds
- Water Treatment Control
- Hydroponic Dome Complex
- Power Generation Complex
- The Primary Facility along the central dividing bridge
Best Containers to Loot
To maximize your chances of finding Rusted Gears, focus on looting specific container types in these locations:
- Electrical Boxes
- Lockers
- Breachable Metal Crates
While you might have some luck opening desk drawers and cabinets, these tend to contain mostly Residential and Commercial loot—even in Industrial zones—so they’re less likely to yield Rusted Gears.
Patience Is Key
You’ll probably need several runs to collect the three Rusted Gears required to upgrade the Gunsmith Workshop station to level three. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t find them right away.
There are plenty of other Workshop stations to upgrade, along with numerous upgrade items, weapons, and crafting materials to gather. Stockpiling these resources will prepare you well for more challenging encounters ahead.
