Schwab’s Jones: See A Floor on Yields Absent Economic Change
Kathy Jones, Chief Fixed Income Strategist at the Schwab Center for Financial Research, recently joined Bloomberg Businessweek Daily from the Schwab IMPACT 2025 conference to share her insights on the current state of fixed income markets.
As equity markets navigate a period of heightened volatility, Jones highlights the stability within fixed income. She notes that there appears to be a floor on yields, barring a significant shift in the economic outlook. This suggests that bond yields may not fall much further under current conditions.
Jones also offers her perspective on the Federal Reserve’s trajectory moving forward. She believes the market may be “over its skis” by anticipating additional rate cuts, implying that expectations for easing monetary policy could be premature.
The discussion was moderated by Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec, providing a comprehensive look at how fixed income and equity markets are responding to evolving economic signals.
