Cristiano Ronaldo Reveals How He Proposed to Georgina Rodríguez

Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t get a penalty for buying this blinding gift.

Over two months after he and fiancée Georgina Rodríguez got engaged, the soccer star shared how she inspired him to pick out her massive diamond ring.

“I knew one day I was going to [propose], but I didn’t know which way,” Cristiano, 40, revealed in the November 4 episode of Piers Morgan’s *Uncensored* podcast. “She asked me for a ring because it’s her dream to have a good stone. I worked hard and I finally found what she loved.”

Indeed, Georgina, 31 — who shares twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8, Alana, 7, Bella, 3, and late son Angel with the athlete — has proudly showcased the stunning oval jewel since their engagement. She was even seen posing with the ring during an outing in New York on September 11.

While Cristiano was confident she would love the ring, he noted that Georgina was more focused on his sincerity.

“She didn’t care about the ring,” Ronaldo admitted. “She asked me if I was speaking the truth. She said, ‘Are you honest?’ And I said, ‘Yes, I’m honest. I want you. I want to marry you.’ But she didn’t believe me at first.”

As for how Cristiano planned the proposal? Shortly after buying the ring, the Pestana CR7 co-founder — and father to 15-year-old Cristiano Jr. — had a friend keep it safe so he could pop the question after dinner.

“It was like 1 a.m., and my daughters were in bed sleeping,” he recalled. “One of my friends gave me the ring to offer to Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two daughters came in and said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mom and you’re going to ask her to get married.’ And I said, ‘Wow, this was the right moment.’”

Timing was an important factor in this special decision.

“I always say that good things come in at the right time,” Cristiano explained. “I said, ‘I’m going to propose to her because I think it’s the right moment.’ Not only because she’s the mother of my kids, but she’s the person I love. She’s the love of my life.”
