Austin’s Proposition Q failed: Now what?
The budget adopted by the Austin City Council earlier this year will no longer serve as the city’s operating framework. Significant changes now require the council to revisit the process.
Council members will need to reconvene and essentially redo the later stages of planning for the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget. This shift means city leaders will have to adjust their previous decisions and rework the details to ensure Austin’s budget accurately reflects current priorities and needs.
