Mario Kart World has sold 9.57 million units since launch
Even though *Mario Kart World* has been out for less than six months, it has proven to be another big winner for Nintendo. The latest entry in the series has already sold 9.57 million units since its launch alongside the Nintendo Switch 2.
This information comes from Nintendo’s most recent six-month earnings report, issued late Monday evening. According to the report, “For Nintendo Switch 2 software, *Mario Kart World*, released at the same time as the hardware, and *Donkey Kong Bonanza*, released in July, showed strong sales.”
The Nintendo Financial Results Explanatory Material, covering the period ending November 4, states that combined unit sales for Nintendo Switch 2 software from various publishers reached 20.62 million in the first half of the fiscal year. It is important to note that this figure includes approximately 8.10 million units of Nintendo Switch 2 software bundled with the hardware.
According to the financial statements, Nintendo has sold 10.36 million Nintendo Switch 2 hardware units so far. Of those, 9.57 million units include the Switch 2-exclusive *Mario Kart World* in some form.
While *Mario Kart World* still has a long way to go to catch the over 68 million lifetime units sold by *Mario Kart 8 Deluxe*, it is off to a strong start. Speaking of the previous Mario Kart title, it has sold another 1.37 million units recently, bringing its lifetime sales to more than 69 million units.
