Here is a closer look at the Galaxy Z TriFold
Last week, Samsung took the wraps off its first smartphone with a tri-folding display. However, the brand neither revealed the device’s name (the company is expected to launch it as the Galaxy Z TriFold) nor shed light on its features, price, and availability. Furthermore, the tech giant displayed it in a glass showcase box from a distance, keeping people from knowing more about it.
However, some people managed to determine the thickness of the Galaxy Z TriFold. Now, it turns out that some even managed to check out the phone from all angles, giving us more information about its displays, folding mechanism, cameras, speakers, microphones, and power and volume buttons. Let’s take a closer look.
### Galaxy Z TriFold Displays and Folding Mechanism
On YouTube, OMG Electronics and SUBUSUNEWS have posted videos showcasing the Galaxy Z TriFold from all sides. You can check them out for a detailed view of the device.
As seen in the videos, the Galaxy Z TriFold features two displays — one on the outside and one on the inside. The cover display measures 6.5 inches, while the foldable screen unfolds to 10 inches.
Both foldable sections of the Galaxy Z TriFold fold inward, protecting the display from external damage. This is in contrast to the only other phone with a tri-folding display, the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, which uses a single screen as both cover and foldable display. On the Mate XT Ultimate, one fold section folds inward, while the other folds outward, exposing the foldable screen to the outside and making it more prone to damage.
Both displays of the Galaxy Z TriFold appear to have thicker bezels compared to those on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. When Samsung launched the first-generation Galaxy Z Fold, it featured very thick bezels, but over the years, the brand drastically reduced bezel size to the point where they are now on par with non-foldable phones. A similar design refinement may take place with the Galaxy Z TriFold in the future.
The phone has two hinges — one with a shorter radius and the other with a longer radius. The longer radius is needed to accommodate the first foldable section. When unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold looks thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but when folded, it appears slightly thicker.
### Speakers, Microphones, and Cameras
At the top of the device, there is a speaker along with three microphones.
The rear camera setup resembles that of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Reports suggest it could share the same sensors: a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
For selfies, the Galaxy Z TriFold is equipped with two front-facing cameras—one on the cover display and one on the foldable display. Both screens have punch-hole cutouts to house these cameras.

The Galaxy Z TriFold represents Samsung’s bold step into the tri-fold smartphone market, offering a unique folding mechanism and large displays. While many details such as pricing and availability remain under wraps, these early insights provide an exciting glimpse into what to expect from this innovative device.
